Brrrrraaaaatttss!

Summer eats tonight! Brats on the grill with jazzed up kraut (cook it with apple, potato, brown sugar, and beer). Serve with Hilah Cooking's better than ranch-style beans, then follow with grilled fresh pineapple slices.

Cold Meal for a Hot Evening

The outdoor temperatures were in the high 90°'s F. here in northern Virginia today. That called for a cool supper -- chilled kimchi sōmen.
The ramen noodles were cooked, rinsed, and chilled. The kimchi was chopped and drained, then mixed with a dressing of rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and Temari soy sauce. The ramen was mixed with the kimchi, and refrigerated a couple of hours until it was nice and cold. A cold beer will go nicely with this.

Cucumber Salad for Tomorrow's Party

We're getting together tomorrow with folks from my former place of work, so I made a cucumber salad, using a recipe from Hilah Cooking.

Pickled Beets

I pickled (or marinated) some roasted yellow beets to have with our tuna salad for supper. I probably also will sauté some summer squash with tomatoes. The beets are soaking at room temperature in a mix of cider vinegar, olive oil, dry mustard, shallots, sugar, and S&P.

Light Pre-Storm Supper

We have bad storm warnings, so only a light supper before we needed to take shelter. Sardines in tomato sauce. Rye Toast. Iced coffee. Fruit salad with apriums, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas.

Radish Dip

I made up some radish dip for breakfast. There's fat-free Greek yogurt, radishes and spring onion from the farmers market, cilantro from my herb garden, ground cumin, and S&P, all mixed up. I'll have it with some Wasa crackers.
